Some answers to questions asked on Kyle's Korner

Thanks to all the fans on the forum who have asked these great questions, and thanks to Kyle who has answered them - only 259 more to go ;-)

How did you get started?

I've been doing this since i was about 12...modeled and hated it. Quit pretty soon after I started. They had asked me to try acting, I said I didn't want to, but my mother's one of those mothers..."try anything once if you don't like it you don't have to do it." I got the first thing I auditioned for...its just history from there.

Are you a method actor?

I wouldn't say I have any method whatsoever... ; )

Favorite role?

I don't really have a favorite project. They've all been a great experience for different reasons.

Joyride 2 - favorite scene

I preferred doing the funny scenes. I don't really have a favourite, but I enjoyed the diner scene.

Joyride 2 - how funny was it wearing a dress and makeup?

It was crazy having to do that. But I also thought that it lent a pathetic dynamic to the character. In which case I was laughing and crying the whole time, which is kind of difficult if you could imagine. I'm sure I'll be hearing it from my family and friends for the next decade.

Joyride 2 - Did you keep the wig, dress or shoes?

No i didn't keep anything from the cross dressing scene. That's been burnt into history on film. A moment I really don't need a memory of, hahaha.

Live theater?

I've always been interested in theatre. I haven't done very much, but am always open to the opportunity. I can't sing, I'm sorry to say but I can dance a little I suppose. We'll see what the future brings. At some point it will involve theatre, I know that's a fact.

Would you ever play a vampire again?

There would be a lot of things to consider such as how similar the character is to that of Henry Fitzroy. I'd have to weigh a lot of options too.

Did you study directing?

Your question about my aspirations to direct... I've been working in the business a long time. And take in as much as possible on all aspect of set. From camera work to producing to directing. And yes I would love to direct at some point throughout my career. I'm sure I still have some more to learn but I've worked with many directors that have been very impressed with my perception of what goes on in front of the camera, and behind. I suppose you could say I do shadow all the directors I work with, asking questions and looking for advice. It's something I look forward to conquering in the future.

How does your mother cope with seeing you tortured in the movies?

My mom and dad are pretty cool with watching all the gore and torture stuff. My mom doesn't like it, but she always gets through the movie. My little brother gets a big kick out of watching his big bro get his ass handed to him.

Smallville Fight Scenes

It was great working with Erica Durance and the rest of the cast on Smallville. The fight scene was a blast shooting with Erica, she's a very physically capable actress.

I had a stunt double and also got to do a lot of my own stunts as always.

To be honest, that was the importance of having the stunt doubles there. I was very careful with Erica. Although we got to do a lot of the fight scenes together, the heavy stuff was set aside for the professionals.

Do you like to travel?

I've traveled a lot. Mexico many times, Dominican Republic, Scotland, Ireland, England, Cuba ... among a few others I'm sure. I love to travel, I think its one of the best ways to learn.
I'd love to go to Thailand, and I would love to visit all the places mentioned. (Fans have asked Kyle about visiting Europe, Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Australia, South Africa and Japan)

What languages do you speak?

I studied French, but don't speak it very well and speak a little Spanish too.

Soccer and other sports

I had always thought of going pro when I played seriously. I had been playing soccer since I was four years old. I broke my leg when i was seventeen just before a scouting trip to Germany. At the time it was devastating, but looking back I find it true when people say everything happens for a reason.
I played midfield for most of my life, but was also a striker for many years. It's hard for me to watch soccer on television, I'd much rather be playing it. And as of lately I'm sad to say I don't play it as much as I'd like to.
Regarding the 2008 European Soccer Championship, Kyle's heart was set on Germany winning.

The 2008 Olympics:
I tend to watch as many of the games as possible, they're all fantastic. the gymnastics is always fun to watch, but I've been watching the diving and swimming the past few night.
Well I root for Canada, but lets face it...the domination comes from the US.

Kyle has previously mentioned that he enjoys swimming, horseback riding, wakeboarding, snowboarding and mountain biking. He has tried parachuting once, and would love to do it again.

What kind of music do you like?

I like all music from The Foo Fighters to The Beatles, I like a lot of trip-hop, alternative, rock...old new. I pretty much like it all. Check out a group called Outmatch, it's a friend of mine from back in Toronto (Since Kyle's response, Outmatch has disbanded.)
In an interview Kyle said his favourite CD was the soundtrack from Garden State.
