If you want an autographed photo please enclose a self-addressed envelope with an international reply coupon - unless you have Canadian stamps. The coupon can be purchased at any post office and it can be exchanged in Canada for the required postage to mail something to you. If you have trouble obtaining a coupon, you can include 10 dollars, concealed in the letter - US or Canadian dollars both work.

Yes, I know one is not supposed to put money in letters, but what else can you do?

And then be patient. It will probably take months before you get a reply, so try to forget about it and be happily surprised if/when a letter arrives.
